‘No one should represent me without authorisation’ — Nancy Isime issues legal warning
Nancy Isime, the Nigerian actress, has warned brands, agencies and other stakeholders against dealing with individuals claiming to represent her without authorisation.
In a notice shared on her Instagram page on Monday, Isime said she had become aware of persons “purporting to act, negotiate or otherwise represent” her interests without authority.
The actress advised the public, including brands, agencies, corporate organisations, media organisations, event organisers, producers and business partners, that no individual or entity is authorised to represent, negotiate, contract, make commitments or act on her behalf unless expressly authorised by her.
She urged anyone intending to engage with her to verify the authority of any person claiming to act on her behalf before entering any arrangement or making any payment connected to her professional or commercial engagements.
“I, Nancy Isime, hereby issue this notice to the public and all relevant stakeholders concerning my representation and engagements,” the notice reads.
“My attention has been drawn to instances of certain persons purporting to act, negotiate or otherwise represent my interests without authority. This notice is therefore issued to clarify the position and avoid any misunderstanding.
“The general public, including brands, agencies, corporate organisations, media organisations, event organisers, Producers, business partners and other stakeholders, are advised that no person or entity is authorised to represent, negotiate, contract, make commitments or otherwise act on my behalf unless expressly authorised by me.
“All persons and organisations intending to engage with me are therefore advised to verify the authority of any person purporting to act on my behalf before entering any arrangement or making any payment in connection with my professional or commercial engagements.”
Isime directed stakeholders to verify all formal legal or commercial matters through her official email or via her legal counsel.
The actress also signalled that anyone who steps out of line, whether by posing as her representative, negotiating on her behalf or entering into transactions in her name without permission, should be prepared to face whatever legal consequences may follow.
“For matters requiring formal legal or commercial coordination concerning me stakeholders are advised to seek confirmation via info@nancyisime.com and/or through my legal counsel, PUNUKA Attorneys & Solicitors,” she added.
“I reserve all rights and remedies available to me in respect of any unauthorised representation, dealing, or transaction undertaken in my name or purportedly on my behalf.”
