Peter Obi Reacts to Attack at ADC Event in Edo
Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has said that experiences of lawlessness are not new to him following an attack at the African Democratic Congress event in Benin, Edo State.
Recall that the incident occurred on Tuesday, during the formal declaration of Olumide Akpata into the African Democratic Congress. Obi, former APC National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, and other party chieftains were reportedly attacked, with gunshots said to have been fired at a residence in Benin.
Obi thanked Nigerians for their solidarity and described the development as part of growing lawlessness, urging citizens to remain committed to building a better Nigeria through responsible leadership and civic participation.
The Edo State Government, however, dismissed allegations of targeted attacks as false and malicious, stating that no directive was issued to harm members of any political party.
