Army Dismisses Popular Soldier “Soja Boi” for Indiscipline
The Nigerian Army has clarified the dismissal of Rotimi Olamilekan, a soldier and content creator popularly known as “Soja Boi,” stating that his removal from service was due to repeated acts of indiscipline and not his viral criticism of political leaders.
A statement issued this Tuesday by the Army through its Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, explained that Olamilekan’s removal followed violations of the Armed Forces Social Media Policy and the commercialization of his military identity.
The dismissal comes after Olamilekan went viral in February for a video challenging political leaders to send their own children to serve in the military’s lower ranks.
While the former soldier claims he was punished for “speaking the truth,” the Army maintains that his unauthorized media appearances and partisan content creation necessitated the disciplinary action.
The military emphasized that its operations are guided by a strict code of conduct and urged the public to disregard claims that the dismissal was politically motivated.
