This was contained in a white paper presented to the Awka Town Union by the Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Tochukwu Nweke, on behalf of the state government.
Reading the contents of the white paper before handing it over to the President General of the community, Frederick Chinwuba, Barrister Nweke said that the government accepts recommendation one, which affirms that Obi Nwosu is the substantive and incumbent traditional ruler of Awka community, since the traditional stool of Awka is rotational between the Ifite and Ezi sections of Awka, as contained in Article 8, paragraphs B and C of the Awka Traditional Rulers Amended Constitution of 1986.
Barrister Nweke said that since the Ayom N’Okpala quarters from the Ifite section produced Ezeuzu the First, and Ezeuzu the Second is from the Ezi section, the next traditional rulers would be produced by other quarters according to seniority, which are Nkwelle from the Ifite section, Ezi section, Amachalla Na Ato from the Ifite section, Agulu from the Ezi section, and Ifite Awka from the Ifite section.
The white paper also states that the government accepts recommendations two and three, which state that Chief Austin Ndigwe is not the traditional ruler of Awka and that his claim to the Ezeuzu throne is unlawful.
Responding on behalf of Awka community, the Deputy President General of the community, Mr. Chris Obuekwe, appreciated Governor Soludo for intervening in the matter with a view to finding a lasting solution, expressing happiness that peace has finally returned.
Mr. Obuekwe also commended the Governor for giving Awka a facelift and pleaded that more development projects should be sited in Awka now that normalcy has been achieved.
