A message To Obidients: Stop Bullying Atiku Abubakar.
This morning, I listened to a song demanding that Atiku Abubakar step aside for Peter Obi, and frankly, it was heartbreaking. It mirrors the same level of embarrassment he was subjected to during the ADC convention when people were shouting “Obi/Kwankwaso” right in his face.
We need to be clear, Atiku may be the final, essential tutor Peter Obi needs. While Obi has his strengths, Atiku possesses a level of political courage and resilience that PO currently lacks. If you listened to Atiku’s interview yesterday, his bitterness was palpable and justified. He is watching the way “Obidients” are behaving within the ADC, and it isn’t helping the cause.
Here are a few hard truths for the “headless mobs” to consider:
You cannot bully Atiku. He is not a man who can be boxed into a corner. Attempts to force him out will only backfire.
Atiku has made it clear that 2027 is his final shot at the presidency. He knows his worth and correctly pointed out that his national popularity outweighs Kwankwaso’s. That’s an absolute truth because Kwankwaso political influence does not move beyond Kano State.
Atiku is a diplomat. He could potentially be persuaded to consider an Obi/Kwankwaso ticket, but he will never do it if you continue trying to make him look like a fool.
The Atiku camp is watching these irrational behaviors closely. If you truly want a united front, stop the bullying and start showing some respect to a man who has paved the way for decades.
Stop the irrationality. Stop the bullying. Respect the veteran.
