Ogun State Approves Weekly Day Off, ₦10,000 Transport Allowance for Workers
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has approved a weekly day off and a ₦10,000 monthly transport allowance for civil servants as part of measures to ease economic pressure.
The initiative, announced by the Head of Service, is designed to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices and increasing cost of living, especially transportation expenses affecting workers.
According to the government, the policy will run for an initial three-month period from April to June 2026, serving as a temporary relief measure.
While most workers will benefit from the weekly day off, those in essential services—including healthcare workers, teachers, judicial staff, and security personnel—will continue working but still receive the ₦10,000 transport allowance.
Officials noted that ministries and agencies will determine specific off-days to ensure that public service delivery is not disrupted.
The state government described the move as part of efforts to support workers’ welfare and maintain productivity amid ongoing economic challenges.
