EFCC Arrests Convicted Ex-Power Minister Mamman
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, days after he was sentenced in absentia over the alleged diversion of more than N33 billion meant for the Mambilla power project and other electricity schemes.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, announced this Tuesday in Abuja, saying Mamman was arrested around 3:30 a.m. in the Rigasa area of Kaduna following intensified intelligence and surveillance operations.
Olukoyede said the former minister was convicted on 12 counts linked to the alleged fraud, while security agencies had earlier been directed by the court to apprehend him.
The EFCC chairman also disclosed that two other persons were arrested during the operation for allegedly harbouring the former minister while he evaded arrest.
He added that the commission had uncovered another property suspected to belong to Mamman and would continue efforts to recover assets linked to the case.
