Abia government warns of planned violence in Aba ahead of 2027 elections

The Abia State Government has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by political actors to incite violence in Aba, warning that hired miscreants may provoke confrontations with security forces.

The warning was issued this Friday by the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Ferdinand Ekeoma, saying intelligence reports indicated that some individuals were planning a protest reportedly tagged “Tinubu Dey Work, Otti Dey Chop.”

The government said the protest was intended to promote a false narrative that the Federal Government funded state projects and cautioned that any clash could lead to casualties, reprisals, and a breakdown of law and order.

While affirming respect for dissent as a democratic principle, the Abia government urged parents and guardians to warn their children against participation in politically motivated protests and pledged to maintain peace and a safe political environment in the state.
