APGA Clears Ibezi, 39 Others for Anambra House of Representatives Primaries
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has cleared Hon. Ifeanyichukwu Ibezi, Ph.D., to contest the party’s primary election for the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to an official notice issued by the party and signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, Ph.D., Hon. Ibezi is among the 40 aspirants screened and cleared to participate in the House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026.
The notice directed all successful aspirants to proceed to the party’s regional office in Awka on Monday, May 18, 2026, to collect their nomination forms. It also stated that the sale of nomination forms would close on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
For the Idemili North and South Federal Constituency, four aspirants were cleared by the party, setting the stage for what is expected to be a keenly contested primary election.
The publication of the list formally signals the commencement of APGA’s internal process for the emergence of candidates for the eleven federal constituencies in Anambra State.
Reacting to his clearance, Hon. Ibezi expressed gratitude to the leadership of APGA for what he described as “a transparent and credible screening process”. He said the clearance had further strengthened his resolve to continue engaging party members and the people of Idemili North and South on his vision for effective representation, inclusive development, and grassroots empowerment.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of APGA and pledged to run an issue-based campaign anchored on service, experience, and the welfare of the people.
An analysis of the cleared aspirants shows that the Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Federal Constituency recorded the highest number of aspirants, with eight contestants cleared by the party. Awka North/Awka South and Dunukofia/Njikoka/Anaocha followed with five aspirants each, while Onitsha North/Onitsha South, Orumba North/Orumba South, and Idemili North/Idemili South recorded four aspirants each.
Aguta had three aspirants, while Anambra East/West, Ihiala, and Ogbaru recorded two aspirants each. Oyi/Ayamelum had the least number, with one aspirant cleared for the primary election.
The party congratulated all successful aspirants and wished them success as they prepared for the primaries.
