Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund Lead Europe’s Perfect-Start Club List

Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund Lead Europe’s Perfect-Start Club List
The early stages of the 2026/27 domestic season have produced an impressive group of unbeaten and fast-starting teams across Europe, but only three clubs from the continent’s traditional top five leagues have managed to win every domestic league match they have played so far.
The three sides are Barcelona 🇪🇸, Manchester City 🏴 and Borussia Dortmund 🇩🇪, highlighting their outstanding starts to the new campaign.
Barcelona: Perfect in LaLiga
Barcelona have made a remarkable start to their LaLiga title defence, winning their opening seven league matches.
Hansi Flick’s side have combined consistency with attacking firepower, producing several high-scoring victories along the way. Their latest league triumph came against Sevilla, with Raphinha scoring a hat-trick in a 3–1 victory to maintain Barça’s flawless record. The Brazilian’s treble also took his league tally to 12 goals after seven matches.
Earlier in the campaign, Barcelona also produced a spectacular 7–2 victory over Racing Santander, with Raphinha again scoring three times. That result gave the Catalan giants six wins from six at the time and 28 goals scored in their opening six league fixtures.
The perfect run has placed Barcelona firmly at the top of LaLiga in the opening weeks of the season, with their attacking production emerging as one of the defining features of their campaign so far.
Manchester City: Seven Straight Premier League Wins
Manchester City have also established themselves as one of Europe’s early-season pace-setters.
Enzo Maresca’s team maintained their 100% Premier League record with a thrilling 5–3 victory over Sunderland on September 20. The result marked City’s seventh consecutive league victory and kept them three points clear at the top of the Premier League at that stage.
The victory was another example of City’s attacking strength, with Antoine Semenyo scoring twice before Erling Haaland provided the late finish that secured all three points.
City’s perfect domestic start has been particularly notable because of the competitiveness of the Premier League, where every dropped point can have a major impact on the early standings.
Borussia Dortmund: Perfect Start in Germany
Borussia Dortmund have also maintained a 100% record in the Bundesliga.
Dortmund followed up their opening league victory over Hamburger SV with wins against Hoffenheim and Paderborn before producing another narrow but valuable victory away to Stuttgart.
Their 1–0 win at Stuttgart on September 19 completed another successful league outing and kept Dortmund’s domestic record perfect after the opening rounds of the campaign.
While Dortmund have not always needed to score heavily to collect points, their ability to grind out victories has been equally important. The Stuttgart result, in particular, demonstrated their capacity to manage difficult away fixtures and leave with maximum points.
Three Different Leagues, One Remarkable Record
What makes the statistic particularly interesting is that the three clubs are competing in three different leagues with very different competitive environments.
| Club | League | Domestic league record |
|---|---|---|
| 🇪🇸 Barcelona | LaLiga | 7 wins from 7 |
| 🏴 Manchester City | Premier League | 7 wins from 7 |
| 🇩🇪 Borussia Dortmund | Bundesliga | 4 wins from 4 |
The figures underline how quickly the three teams have established themselves at the top of their respective domestic campaigns.
Barcelona have combined a perfect record with prolific scoring, Manchester City have demonstrated consistency in a highly competitive Premier League, while Dortmund have remained flawless in the Bundesliga despite facing challenging opponents.
A Long Season Still Lies Ahead
Although a perfect start provides significant momentum, it is still only the beginning of a long domestic campaign.
Maintaining 100% records becomes increasingly difficult as fixtures accumulate, injuries emerge and clubs have to balance domestic football with European competition and cup commitments.
For now, however, Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund are the only clubs from Europe’s top five leagues to have won every domestic league game they have played this season.
Their starts have provided an early indication of their ambitions, but the real test will be whether they can maintain that consistency as the season progresses.
For supporters of all three clubs, the opening weeks have offered plenty of reason for optimism: maximum points, strong attacking performances and a perfect league record.
