Court Suspends Adamawa ADC Congresses Amid Factional Crisis
A court has ordered the suspension of Adamawa State’s All Progressives Congress (ADC) congresses scheduled to begin today, following a legal suit filed by factional state chairman Shehu Yohanna.
The ADC in Adamawa is currently embroiled in a leadership crisis, with three competing factions. One faction is aligned with former SGF Babachir Lawal, reportedly backing former Governor Bindow for the governorship. Another faction supports Aisha Binani, while the third, led by Shehu Yohanna, predates the party’s adoption as a coalition.
Senator Ishaku Abbo, associated with Babachir Lawal’s faction, has boycotted today’s congresses, citing the party’s refusal to engage in negotiations with Aisha Binani over party structure. Aisha Binani, who intends to contest the governorship under ADC, is also abstaining from the congresses organized by Babachir Lawal’s faction.
