Customs Warn Nigerians Against Viral Social Media Scams

The Nigeria Customs Service has warned Nigerians against false information circulating on social media, describing such messages as fake and not originating from the Service.

In a statement issued this Monday, the agency urged the public to rely only on updates from its verified communication channels and official platforms.

The Service emphasized that sharing unverified information can spread misinformation, create confusion, and damage public trust in government institutions.

Officials advised Nigerians to always verify information before dissemination and to follow only credible sources for accurate updates on customs activities and policies.

The warning comes amid growing concerns over the spread of fake news online, particularly messages relating to customs procedures, taxes, and penalties.
