Election 2027: ADC Outlines Reasons Why Tinubu Should Be Scared
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that widespread economic hardship and worsening insecurity have significantly eroded public confidence in his administration ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, issued the warning in a statement on Friday, April 17, 2026, reacting to recent comments by the President dismissing the opposition as a “gang-up” and a “street convention.”
Abdullahi described the President’s stance as “unpresidential” and detached, alleging that while the government mocks its critics, millions of Nigerians are grappling with a historic cost-of-living crisis and rising kidnappings.
The ADC further accused the administration of shrinking the democratic space by denying opposition parties access to public venues, while simultaneously attempting to “humiliate” institutions meant to provide checks and balances.
Concluding the statement, the party maintained that no amount of “political theatre” can hide the mounting debt and fading hope in the country, vowing to remain a credible alternative focused on security and prosperity.
