FG Declares Friday Public Holiday for Workers’ Day

The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, May 1st, 2026, as a public holiday to commemorate this year’s International Workers’ Day.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, this Wednesday.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerian workers across the country, commending their hard work, dedication, and essential contributions to national growth and prosperity.

The Minister further urged citizens to remain peaceful and law-abiding while encouraging workers to embrace productivity and patriotism in their various duties.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare and security of all workers while creating a favorable environment for economic development.
