Fulani kidnappers abducted two residents of the Ohuhu community in Umuahia North, Abia State, and demanded ₦10 million ransom.

Instead of waiting helplessly, hundreds of Ohuhu youths stormed the forests, surrounded the kidnappers, rescued the victims alive, and captured all six suspects.

This is exactly what happened in Uturu in 2024 when Uturu youths stormed the bush with their licensed pump-action guns to rescue about eight people from Ngodo Uturu who had been kidnapped while working on their farms. Upon hearing the news, able-bodied men from various communities in Uturu immediately entered the bush, tracked the Fulani kidnappers to the Lokpa forest, engaged them in a gun battle, neutralized some of them, while others fled, and successfully rescued the abducted victims.

Today, a similar story has played out again in Umuahia, the same Abia State, Rather than waiting for the police, who may not arrive on time, the youths took matters into their own hands and rescued the victims.

The victims are now back home safely.

A powerful reminder that courage, unity, and community action can achieve what fear cannot.
