Tinubu Losing Sleep Over Rising Insecurity, Presidential Aide Says
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement (North-West), Abdulillahi Yakassai, says the worsening insecurity across parts of Nigeria is reportedly affecting President Bola Tinubu’s rest.
Yakassai made the comments this Tuesday during an interview, highlighting the president’s frequent Security Council meetings at the Presidential Villa as evidence of the administration’s concern.
He noted that insurgents and criminal groups are now using guerrilla-style tactics in areas such as Kwara State and Niger State, making the fight against banditry and kidnapping more difficult.
While some regions, including areas between Abuja and Kaduna as well as Zamfara State, have reportedly seen improved security, Yakassai stressed that elements opposed to the government are partly responsible for creating unrest.
He expressed optimism that ongoing government efforts will gradually curb insecurity if all hands remain on deck.
