Iran Announces New Body To Manage Strait Of Hormuz
Iran’s top security authority has announced the formation of a new body to manage the Strait of Hormuz amid rising tensions in the region.
The Supreme National Security Council shared this in a post on its official X account, saying the new body will operate under the name Persian Gulf Strait Authority, PGSA.
According to the council, the authority will provide real-time updates on operations and developments around the Strait of Hormuz.
Reports say the account of the Revolutionary Guards navy also shared the announcement shortly after it was made public.
The development comes as Iran reportedly seeks tighter control over activities around the strategic waterway used for global oil shipments.
