Married Woman Allegedly Stages Own Kidnap, Found in Delta Hotel With Lover
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have uncovered an alleged kidnap-for-ransom plot involving a married woman identified as Oluchi, who reportedly faked her own abduction and demanded a ransom of N50 million from her family before she was eventually traced to a hotel where she was staying with her lover.
According to reports, the woman allegedly conspired with her lover and other accomplices to stage the abduction in a bid to extort money from her family and associates. The suspects were said to have contacted relatives, claiming that she had been kidnapped and would only be released upon payment of the huge ransom demand.
Police investigations, however, reportedly exposed inconsistencies in the claims, prompting detectives to intensify efforts to track those behind the purported kidnapping. Their investigation led officers to a hotel in Delta State, where Oluchi was allegedly found in the company of her lover, contrary to claims that she was being held captive.
The police subsequently arrested the woman, her lover and other individuals believed to have participated in the scheme. Preliminary findings indicate that the suspects allegedly planned the operation together and shared proceeds obtained from the ransom payments made during the period of the fake abduction.
Authorities have condemned the incident, warning that staged kidnappings not only constitute serious criminal offences but also divert security resources from genuine kidnapping cases. The suspects are expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of investigations.
