AIRS Arrests Six Illegal Revenue Collectors in Utuh, Nnewi South LGA

The Anambra Internal Revenue Service (AIRS) has arrested six illegal revenue collectors at Oye Utuh in Nnewi South Local Government Area.

According to the AIRS Special Commander, Comrade Nathan Obikwelu, the suspects were arrested for collecting revenue from okada riders at the market without the legal right to do so, which contravenes the Anambra State Government law that bans illegal revenue collection from okada riders, commercial bus operators and tricycle riders in the state.

Comrade Obikwelu, who listed the suspects as Christopher Obinna Mmadu, Paul Kenechukwu, Emeka Okoli, Livinus Ezulike, Nzube Nnoluka and Anayo Agu, revealed that the suspects were taken to Onitsha Revenue court after their apprehension, which remanded them in Onitsha Correctional Centre, assuring that the he will continue to discharge his duties in line with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s directive without compromise.

He warned fake revenue collectors in Anambra to desist from such crime and engage in legitimate businesses to earn a living; as any illegal revenue collector caught in the act will be punished in accordance with the law.
