Carlo Ancelotti’s son named new Lille coach

Lille have appointed Davide Ancelotti, son of Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti, as their new head coach following the departure of Bruno Genesio.

Lille announced the appointment this Monday, confirming that the 36-year-old signed a two-year contract, though they did not indicate whether he would leave his role as an assistant with Brazil before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ancelotti expressed delight at the appointment, describing Lille as an ambitious and competitive club with a strong presence in European football.

Recall that he previously had a brief spell as head coach of Brazilian side Botafogo and will now begin a new chapter in France.

Lille secured qualification for next season’s UEFA Champions League after finishing third in Ligue 1, while the new French league season is scheduled to begin on August 22–23.
