80,000 people seek refuge in Lebanon since renewed fighting

We have an update from the UN on the humanitarian situation in Lebanon since fighting between Hezbollah and Israel resumed:

  • At least 80,000 people have sought refuge in shelters in Lebanon.
  • The UN believes this represents a fraction of all the people who have been forced to flee.
  • Rapid response teams are assessing needs and distributing emergency supplies in affected areas and shelters.
  • UN partners working in food security have reached more than 20,000 displaced people with hot meals and some 15,000 with ready-to-eat packages across Lebanon.
