I’m looking at buying a horse to use as transportation as fuel prices rise in Ghana – UG Lecturer, Dr. Zaato

Rising fuel prices in Ghana are forcing many people to reconsider how they commute.

Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato, a senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, says he is considering buying a horse instead of using a car due to the high cost of fuel.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana, he explained that the increase in fuel prices is mainly due to global factors such as the Russia-Ukraine war and the effects of COVID-19.

He said Ghana’s economy is still vulnerable to external shocks and called for practical steps like building oil reserves and supporting local refineries.

Dr. Zaato also advised Ghanaians to prepare for continued fuel price increases, noting that his idea of switching to a horse reflects the financial pressure many people are experiencing.
