Gombe State Police Command has arrested 16 suspected kidnappers, armed robbers, cultists and murderers. Commissioner of Police, Mr Umar Chuso, said: “We have declared war against the criminals in the state. We have dealt with the criminals who are terrorising communities. Some of the suspects have been charged to court, while others are still under investigation.
“Operatives in Pindiga District, Akko Local Government burst a robbery syndicate and apprehended six suspects while one is at large. The suspects threatened victims on the phone and demanded a ransom of N650,000
“Three abducted victims were rescued, while three suspected bandits were neutralized in Rahama, Lambo and Garin Galadima village in Pindiga. Police detectives arrested a 37-year-old man for culpable homicide. A tenant in the deceased’s residence at Kundulun Quarter was found lying motionless in a pool of blood with a severe head injury.
Police Tactical Team arrested suspected armed robbers and kidnappers in Gombe axis. I deployed operatives of the team in flashpoints where hoodlums come from neighbouring state to carry out evil act. There have been 48-hour constant patrol and surveillance to flush out hoodlums.
“I want to give kudos to officers for the way they conduct themselves and apply professionalism in carrying out their duties. Also, the sister agencies, including the vigilante groups and hunters. We appreciate the public for giving us useful information which have assisted police to tackle the criminals.”
