Two Teenagers Arrested in Kano for Allegedly Planning ‘Gay’ Birthday Party During Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two teenagers, Umar Yahaya and Musa Al-Hassan, for allegedly planning to organise a “gay” birthday party during the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr celebration in Kano.

The Deputy Commandant General of the board, Mujahideen Aminudeen, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

According to him, the teenagers, aged 19 and 18, allegedly used social media to invite people they described as pimps from different parts of the country to attend a birthday gathering scheduled to take place after the Eid prayer.

Aminudeen said the suspects claimed to belong to the Yan Daudu group and had planned a celebration involving dancing and other acts the board described as immoral.

He added that the teenagers had apologised and expressed regret over their actions. Rather than prosecute them immediately, the board decided to keep them under supervision to receive guidance and religious education.

The Hisbah official also stated that personnel would be deployed to monitor mosques and public areas during the final days of Ramadan, following complaints that some people attending late-night prayers were engaging in inappropriate activities.
