Senya Breku: 38 fishermen rescued after armed robbery at sea
Thirty-eight fishermen have been safely brought to shore after being left stranded at sea following a v+olent r,obbery off the coast of Senya Breku in the Central Region.
A joint team of Marine Police and NADMO rescued the fishermen who were travelling in two locally manufactured canoes, after reports of the att+ck reached authorities.
Reports suggest that the fishermen set out in the early hours of Thursday for their routine fishing expedition, but while returning to shore, they got a,mbushed by ar,med men in a black boat, gave warning s,hots, and stole their outboard motors and generator sets, leaving them stranded at sea
The military launched a search operation at dawn, approximately 35 nautical miles off the Senya Breku coast, to locate any remaining v+ctims, and additional canoes linked to the att+ck have since been found.
The CID has since begun taking statements from the rescued fishermen. Meanwhile, the Ghana ar,med Forces has urged the public to remain calm as investigations continue.
