We’ll refund your money if your prepaid meter runs faster than Usain Bolt – Energy Minister assures Ghanaians

Okay, so those complaining that their prepaid credit is vanishing too quickly, the Energy Minister says your concerns are being taken seriously.

John Abdulai Jinapor has assured consumers that if investigations confirm some electricity meters are faulty, they will be replaced immediately.

And if anyone has been overcharged, government will work out a way to compensate them.

He made the comments during the commissioning of MBH Power Ghana’s new Energy Meters Manufacturing Unit in Tema, stressing that a proper investigation will be done first before any conclusions are drawn.

β€œOnce we conduct the investigation, assuming some meters are faulty, we have to replace them immediately because you must put the right meter,” he said.

The Minister has directed the Electricity Company of Ghana to submit a report within seven days on the fast depletion concerns.

Meanwhile, the PURC, the Energy Commission and other relevant agencies are collaborating to get to the bottom of the matter.

For now, he’s asking the public to stay calm as the probe continues, assuring that the issue will be handled fairly.
