Taxpayers Urged to File Returns Before March 31 Deadline
Nigerian taxpayers have been urged to file their personal income tax returns before the March 31 deadline to comply with legal requirements.
Under the Nigeria Tax Act 2025, individuals earning income in Nigeria are required to file annual returns with the relevant State Internal Revenue Service, regardless of whether taxes are deducted through the Pay-As-You-Earn system.
The Minister of State for Finance, Taiwo Oyedele, had earlier emphasized the need for compliance, noting that many taxpayers still fail to file their returns despite existing legal obligations.
Taxpayers are expected to obtain a Tax Identification Number, declare all sources of income, apply relevant deductions, and submit returns either online or at designated tax offices before the deadline.
Authorities warn that failure to comply may attract penalties, while proper filing remains essential for accessing services such as loans, contracts, and official documentation.
