In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Mā nansakh min āyah aw nunsihā na’ti bikhayrin minhā aw mithlihā. Peace be upon you, O caller to God and His divine signs, peace be upon you, O gate of God and judge of His religion, peace be upon you, O caliph of God and supporter of His truth, peace be upon you, O proof of God and guide of His will; peace be upon you, O anticipated leader; peace be upon you with all the comprehensive peace; peace be upon you, O master, owner of the time. At the beginning of my speech, I must offer my condolences to my master, may God hasten his relief, on the occasion of the painful martyrdom of the great leader of the revolution, dear wise Khamenei, and I ask from him prayers of goodness for each and every one of the great nation of Iran and indeed all Muslims of the world, all servants of Islam and the revolution, the self-sacrificers, the survivors of the martyrs of the Islamic movement, especially the recent war, and for myself. The second part of my speech is addressed to the great nation of Iran. Initially, I must briefly state my position regarding the vote of the respected Assembly of Experts. I, your servant Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei, learned of the result of the vote of the respected Assembly of Experts simultaneously with you and through the Islamic Republic’s television. For me, sitting in a place that was the seat of two great leaders, the great Khomeini and the martyred Khamenei, is a difficult task. Because this seat has the history of someone who, after more than 60 years of striving in the way of God and foregoing all kinds of pleasures and comforts, became a shining gem and an outstanding figure not only in the present era but throughout the history of the rulers of this country. Both his life and the manner of his death were intertwined with glory and honor derived from reliance on the truth. I had the honor to visit his body after his martyrdom; what I saw was a mountain of steadfastness, and I heard that his healthy fist was clenched. Those knowledgeable about the various aspects of his personality should speak at length. In this context, I suffice with this summary and leave the details to other appropriate occasions. This is the reason for the difficulty of sitting on the leadership seat after such a person; completing this gap is only possible with the help of God Almighty and your support, people. Next, it is necessary to emphasize a point directly related to the essence of my speech. That point is that among the arts of the martyred leader and his great predecessor was involving the people in all arenas, continuously enlightening and informing them, and practically relying on their power. He thus actualized the true meaning of the public and publicness and was deeply committed to it. The clear effect of this was seen in these few days when the country was without a leader and without a commander-in-chief. The insight and wisdom of the great nation of Iran in the recent event, their steadfastness, courage, and presence, caused friends to admire and enemies to be astonished. It was you, the people, who led the country and guaranteed its strength. The verse cited at the beginning of this writing means that there is no verse of the divine verses whose time ends or is forgotten except that God Almighty replaces it with a better or similar one. The reason for using this noble verse is not that I am on the level of the martyred leader, let alone to assume superiority over him; rather, it is to draw attention to the rightful and prominent role of you, dear nation. If that great blessing was taken from us, it was replaced by the renewed presence of the Iranian nation in this system. Know this: if your power does not appear on the scene, neither leadership nor any of the various institutions whose real role is to serve the people will have the necessary effectiveness.
Thirdly, an effective presence on the scene must be maintained; both in the way you have shown during these days and nights of war and through various effective roles in different social, political, educational, cultural, and even security fields. The important thing is that the correct role, without damaging social unity, is well understood and implemented as much as possible. One of the duties of the leadership and some other officials is to remind the individuals or groups of society of some of these roles. Therefore, I emphasize the importance of attending the Quds Day ceremony of 1447, which must be regarded by all as an element of enemy defeat. Fourthly, do not neglect helping and supporting each other. Thanks to God, this has always been a characteristic of most Iranians, and it is expected that during these special days, which are naturally harder for some members of the nation than others, this will be more evident. In this regard, I ask the service organizations not to withhold any assistance or support to those dear members of the nation and to the popular relief structures. If these aspects are observed, the path for you, dear nation, to reach days of greatness and glory will be paved. The closest example of this, God willing, can be victory over the enemy in the current war. The third part of my speech is a sincere thanks to our brave fighters who, in conditions where our nation and dear homeland have been unjustly attacked by the heads of the arrogance front, have blocked the enemy’s path with their crushing blows and removed their illusion of dominance over the dear homeland and possibly its division. Dear warrior brothers! The desire of the masses is the continuation of effective and regret-inducing defense. Certainly, the leverage of blocking the Strait of Hormuz must continue to be used. Studies have been conducted regarding opening other fronts where the enemy has little experience and will be highly vulnerable, and activating them will be done if the war situation continues and based on considerations of interests. I also sincerely thank the fighters of the Resistance Front. We consider the countries of the Resistance Front our best friends, and the cause of resistance and the Resistance Front is an inseparable part of the values of the Islamic Revolution. Undoubtedly, the cooperation of the components of this front with each other shortens the path to eliminate the Zionist sedition; as we have seen, brave and faithful Yemen has not ceased defending the oppressed people of Gaza, and the devoted Hezbollah, despite all obstacles, has come to the aid of the Islamic Republic, and the resistance in Iraq has also courageously taken this path. In the fourth part, my address is to those who have been harmed in some way in these past few days. Whether those who have experienced the martyrdom of a loved one or loved ones; those who have been injured; or those whose homes, dwellings, or workplaces have been damaged. First, I express my deep sympathy with the survivors of the high-ranking martyrs. This is based on a shared experience I have with these honorable individuals; apart from my father, whose loss has become a public matter, I have entrusted my dear and loyal wife, in whom I had hopes, my devoted sister who dedicated herself to serving our parents and ultimately received her reward, as well as her young child and the wife of another sister who was a knowledgeable and noble person, to the caravan of martyrs. But what makes patience in the face of hardships possible and even easy is attention to the definite and certain divine promise of a great reward for the patient. Therefore, one must be patient and have hope and trust in the grace and help of the Almighty God. Secondly, I assure everyone that we will not give up on avenging the blood of your martyrs.
A point I must emphasize is that in any case, we will demand compensation from the enemy, and if they refuse, we will seize as much of their assets as we deem appropriate, and if that is not possible, we will destroy an equivalent amount of their assets. The fifth part of the speech is addressed to the leaders and influential ranks in some countries of the region. We share land or sea borders with 15 neighboring countries and have always been willing to maintain warm and constructive relations with all of them. However, the enemy has gradually established bases, both military and financial, in some of these countries over the years to secure its dominance over the region. In the recent attack, some military bases were used, and naturally, as we had explicitly warned and without any aggression towards those countries, we only targeted those bases. From now on, we will inevitably continue this action; although we still believe in the necessity of friendship between ourselves and those neighbors. These countries must clarify their stance towards the aggressors against our beloved homeland and the killers of our people. I recommend that they shut down those bases as soon as possible, because by now they must have realized that America’s claim of establishing security and peace was nothing but a lie. This will cause them to strengthen their ties with their own peoples, who are generally dissatisfied with siding with the front of disbelief and its humiliating behavior, and increase their wealth and power. I repeat again, the Islamic Republic system, without seeking to establish dominance and colonialism in the region, is fully prepared for unity and warm, sincere relations with all neighbors. In the sixth part of the speech, my words are addressed to our martyred leader. Leader! Your departure inflicted a heavy wound on everyone’s hearts. You were always eager for this end, and finally, God granted it to you while reciting the Holy Quran on the morning of the tenth day of blessed Ramadan. You endured many oppressions with strength and patience without showing any sign of distress. Many did not truly appreciate you, and perhaps it will take a long time for the various veils and obstacles to be removed and for aspects of you to become known. We hope that through the nearness you have attained in the company of the pure lights, the truthful, the martyrs, and the saints, you continue to think about the progress of this nation and all the nations of the resistance front and intercede for them, just as you did in your worldly life. We pledge to you that we will strive with all our might to raise this flag, which is the main flag of the front of truth, and to achieve your sacred goals. In the seventh part, I thank all the honorable people who have supported me, including the great religious authorities, various cultural, political, and social figures, and the masses of people who have gathered in magnificent assemblies to renew their allegiance to the system, as well as the officials of the three branches of government and the temporary leadership council for their wise measures and actions. I hope that the special divine blessings in these hours and blessed days will encompass all the people of Iran and indeed all Muslims and the oppressed of the world. Finally, I ask our Master, may God hasten his noble reappearance, that during the remaining nights and days of Qadr and the blessed month of Ramadan, from the presence of the Almighty God, he pray for our nation to have decisive victory over the enemy, as well as honor, expansion, health, and for the departed, high ranks and eternal well-being.
