On the Kaduna Light Rail Allegations Against Mallam Nasir El-Rufai

Let us slow down and separate allegation from conviction.
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has made claims regarding the N11.1bn Kaduna light rail joint venture. That is their duty as an investigative body. But an investigation or court process is not a declaration of guilt.

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has served in multiple public offices for decades. If there are questions about payments, approvals, or incorporation timelines, the proper place to resolve them is in court — not in social media comment sections.

A few important points Nigerians should reflect on:
📌 A temporary forfeiture order is not a final judgment. It is part of a legal process.
📌 Alleged diversion must be proven beyond reasonable doubt.
📌 Governance projects, especially public-private joint ventures, often involve complex structures that can be misinterpreted outside full context.

If wrongdoing occurred, let evidence prove it transparently in the Federal High Court. If not, let his name be cleared properly.

What we must avoid is trial by social media. Today it is El-Rufai. Tomorrow it could be any public official — or even a private citizen.

Supporters should remain calm. Critics should allow due process.

Justice must be based on law, not headlines.
