Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has reportedly set a new record as the first African artiste to hit 11 billion streams on Spotify.

The milestone was announced on Tuesday by music data platform, Chart Africa, on X, formerly Twitter.

According to the report, Wizkid has now led every major African Spotify streaming milestone from 1 billion to 11 billion streams.

The achievement comes days after the release of his collaboration with DJ Tunez titled “State of Mind,” which reportedly recorded over 685,000 Spotify streams globally within its first day.

Earlier in January, Wizkid also became the first African artiste to reach 10 billion Spotify streams, further cementing his place as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.

Fans and entertainment stakeholders have described the milestone as another proud moment for Afrobeats and African music on the international stage.
