Turaki PDP faction denies planned congresses, cites false reports
The Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Turaki, has denied conducting congresses in any part of the country, describing reports of planned party congresses as false.
Turaki announced this Monday that the information was being circulated by expelled members allegedly aligned with the All Progressives Congress to undermine the party and derail Nigeria’s democracy.
He accused the expelled members of mortgaging the party’s future for political appointments and favours from the ruling party.
Turaki urged members and the public to ignore the alleged congresses, stressing that the party is currently focused on digital membership registration.
The clarification follows claims by a rival faction reportedly backed by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, which has insisted that its planned national convention will proceed despite ongoing litigation.
