UK Court Jails Nigerian 17 Years for Sexual Assault
A UK-based Nigerian, Gift Oladele, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman in Wrexham, Wales.
Judge Simon Mills delivered the judgment this Thursday at Mold Crown Court, where he described the 24-year-old convict as a “dangerous offender” who poses a high risk to young women.
The court heard that Oladele attacked the victim in September 2025 after befriending her outside a takeaway and later dragging her into a wooded area where he threatened to harm her further if she reported the incident.
Investigators revealed that at the time of the offense, Oladele was already on bail for another rape allegation in Manchester and had previously fought a deportation order issued by the UK Home Office.
In her victim impact statement, the survivor shared that she remains deeply traumatized and petrified by the violation, while the judge commended her exceptional courage during the trial.
