Woman Who Wrote Grief Book After Husband’s D+ath Found Guilty of K+lling Him because of $4M life Insurance claim
A US mother of three, Kouri Richins, has been found guilty of m¥rdering her husband, Eric Richins, in a shocking case involving greed, deception, and a children’s book about grief.
The 35-year-old was convicted on March 16 of m¥rder, attempted m¥rder, forgery, and falsifying insurance claims after prosecutors proved she carried out a calculated plan to p%ison her husband and claim over $4 million in life insurance.
Prosecutors told the court that his wife sp+ked his drink while they celebrated closing a real estate deal.
An autopsy later revealed that he had about five times the l+thal dose of fent+nyl in his system.
Investigators also uncovered that Kouri had secretly taken out life insurance policies worth about $2 million on her husband without his knowledge, while being deeply in debt.
The court further heard that she had earlier attempted to k+ll him on Valentine’s Day by p%isoning his food, which left him severely ill but alive after using an EpiPen and medication.
Evidence presented included her internet search history, where she looked up topics related to p%isoning, life insurance payouts, and whether deleted messages could be recovered.
In a chilling twist, about a year after her husband’s de+th, Kouri Richins published a children’s book titled Are You With Me?, aimed at helping her children cope with their father’s de+th.
The jury reached a verdict after just three hours of deliberation.
Kouri Richins now faces at least 25 years in prison and is also dealing with 24 additional fra¥d-related charges connected to the insurance policies. She is expected to appear for a detention hearing on May 19.
