Okai Urges Makinde, Bala Mohammed to Dump PDP for ADC
A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Usman Okai, has urged key figures in the Peoples Democratic Party, including Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed, to defect to the ADC following recent legal setbacks confronting the party.
Okai made the call in a statement in Abuja, warning that the PDP’s ongoing leadership crisis and legal battles could jeopardise the ambitions of politicians preparing for the 2027 general elections.
He referenced a recent ruling by the Court of Appeal which upheld an injunction restraining recognition of the PDP national convention held in Ibadan, saying the judgment signals potential risks for candidates emerging from the party.
Okai said the ADC offers a credible alternative platform for opposition politicians seeking unity and urged PDP members, including the faction led by Turaki, to mobilise and register with the party ahead of its planned ward congresses.
