Wike Dismisses PDP Appeal, Confirms National Convention Plans

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has described the move by the Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party to appeal the Court of Appeal judgment as baseless.

Wike made the remarks while inspecting the Valodrome of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, the venue for the PDP National Convention scheduled for March 29 and 30, saying the appeal will not affect the event.

He assured that the convention will proceed as planned while internal disputes are addressed, emphasizing that grievances are normal in any large organization and that the party’s overall interest is paramount.

Wike also confirmed that party positions have been zoned across regions, with the presidency assigned to the South and the chairmanship to the North, highlighting that PDP will present a unified front for the 2027 elections.

Accompanied by senior party leaders including Okezie Ikpeazu, Mao Ohuabunwa, and Mohammed Abdulrahman, Wike said the convention venue is 95 per cent ready, with seating arrangements and VIP sections fully prepared.
