ADC Says New Executives Assume Office After May 12 Inauguration
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has clarified that newly elected state executives and other party officers will only assume office after their formal inauguration scheduled for May 12, 2026.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC emphasised that the tenure of the newly elected officials would not begin until the expiration of the current executives’ tenure and their official swearing-in by the party.
The party stressed that, until the completion of this constitutional transition process, all existing executives remain the duly recognised officers across all levels of the party structure.
The statement further cautioned newly elected officials, particularly at the state level, against taking any actions or making representations that could undermine the directive or create confusion within the party.
Reaffirming its commitment to internal discipline and due process, the ADC noted that the transition would be conducted in strict accordance with its constitution and democratic principles, warning that any deviation from established procedures would not be tolerated.
