APC, PDP Members Defect to ADC in Edo
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has recorded a fresh wave of defections in Edo State, as scores of members from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the Labour Party (LP) formally joined its ranks, signaling a shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of future electoral contests.
The defectors, drawn from various local government areas, were received at a well-attended gathering by ADC leaders and supporters, who described the development as a major boost to the party’s grassroots mobilisation and expanding influence in Edo politics.
Speaking at the event, party officials said the influx of new members reflects growing dissatisfaction within the APC and PDP, particularly over internal party disputes, leadership crises, and what many described as a lack of inclusiveness in decision-making processes. They added that the ADC is positioning itself as a credible alternative capable of accommodating diverse political interests and offering a more participatory platform.
Some of the defectors, who spoke on condition of anonymity, cited frustration with what they termed “entrenched structures” in their former parties, arguing that the ADC provides a more open environment for political growth and engagement. Others pointed to the party’s emerging national profile and coalition-building efforts as key factors influencing their decision.
State executives of the ADC welcomed the new members, assuring them of equal opportunities and integration into the party’s structure. They also reiterated their commitment to strengthening the party’s presence across all wards and local governments in Edo State.
