ADC Cannot Be “Litigated Into Silence” – David Mark Says Crisis Is Generational Challenge
The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, has said the party cannot be “litigated into silence,” describing the ongoing internal crisis within the party as a generational challenge.
Mark made the remarks at the ADC national convention in Abuja, where he addressed rising tensions and leadership disputes that have continued to affect the party’s cohesion.
He maintained that despite legal battles and factional disagreements, the ADC remains committed to democratic principles and internal reconciliation. According to him, political differences within the party should be resolved through dialogue rather than prolonged court actions.
The former Senate President noted that the challenges confronting the ADC reflect broader issues in Nigeria’s political system, particularly weak internal democracy and recurring leadership tussles among opposition parties.
He reaffirmed his position within the party leadership, even as disputes over legitimacy continue to generate controversy, with some factions challenging the current structure at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and in court.
Mark urged party members to remain focused and avoid actions that could further deepen divisions, stressing that the ADC must prioritise unity as it prepares for future elections.
He expressed optimism that the party would eventually overcome its internal struggles and reposition itself as a strong political alternative in the country’s democratic space.
