Obi Cubana Has Not Resigned From City Boy Movement, Did Not Make Any Statement Against Peter Obi

Our attention has been drawn to viral social media posts alleging that the Coordinator of the City Boy Movement in the Southeast, Chief Dr. Obinna Iyiegbu (Obi Cubana), has resigned from his position.

This claim is false.

Chief Dr. Iyiegbu has not resigned from the City Boy Movement. On the contrary, he has been actively engaged, alongside other members of the movement, in consultations with stakeholders across Southeast Nigeria and in promoting the achievements of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which remains the core mandate of the movement.

Members of the public are hereby advised to disregard these false and misleading reports, which can only have originated from clickbait merchants and purveyors of fake news.

We also wish to categorically debunk another malicious story circulating on social media which alleges that Chief Iyiegbu claimed that Mr. Peter Obi would not receive any votes in the Southeast during the 2027 Presidential election. This allegation is entirely untrue and is clearly intended to sow discord between Chief Iyiegbu and Mr. Peter Obi, whom he regards as an elder brother.

In a democratic society, citizens are free to associate with any political party or movement of their choice and should not be vilified for exercising this constitutional right.

The public is therefore urged to take note of the facts as stated above.
