Police reject ₦500m bribe, recover ₦7.8bn worth of suspected Canadian Loud in Lagos
The Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command, has uncovered a dr¥g tr@fficking network in Lagos, seizing suspected C@nadian L%ud valued at about ₦7.8bn and arresting several suspects, including alleged kingpin Eke Henry Ifeanyi.
The operation, carried out by the Special Protection Unit (SPU) with divisional detectives, followed months of intelligence-led surveillance coordinated from Zone 2 Headquarters.
Police stormed an apartment in Mende, Maryland, where the dr¥gs were reportedly stored.
AIG Olohundare Jimoh said the suspect was arrested on May 19 after sustained monitoring, with support from IGP Olatunji Disu and coordinated police units.
He added that the suspect attempted to frustrate the operation with a ₦500m bribe.
He said: “The suspect offered ₦500 million to the SPU commander in an attempt to make the team stand down and allow him to contact his associates to move the consignment elsewhere. The offer was rejected immediately and properly documented for further investigation.”
Jimoh said the success reflected improved intelligence-driven policing and professionalism, noting that rapid containment prevented interference with evidence.
Police confirmed that exhibits have been secured for prosecution while investigations continue to track other suspects in the network.
