Federal Government Fixes June 17, 2026, for Nationwide Digital Switch Over Rollout
The Federal Government has announced that the long-delayed Digital Switch Over project is officially set for a nationwide rollout on June 17, 2026.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stated this Wednesday that the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting will revolutionize television viewership and the advertising industry.
The new platform will launch with one hundred high-definition channels and provide improved audience measurement tools to help advertisers understand viewing patterns across different demographics.
NigComSat and the National Broadcasting Commission are collaborating to ensure perfect service delivery, with plans to launch two additional satellites to strengthen nationwide coverage.
Government officials confirmed that this new phase of the rollout will utilize satellite technology to provide free and clearer television services to every part of Nigeria.
