Olayode defends pastors amid insecurity criticism
Nollywood actress Juliana Olayode has defended Nigerian pastors against criticism over their perceived silence on rising insecurity, kidnappings and attacks across the country.
Olayode made the remarks in an Instagram post, saying people should not assume religious leaders are doing nothing simply because they are not making public comments on social media.
She noted that pastors, imams and other influential figures can speak on national issues, but argued that activism is not the primary responsibility of religious leaders.
The actress acknowledged that some religious leaders have attracted criticism due to misconduct, but maintained that many genuine pastors continue to serve faithfully and carry out their spiritual duties with sincerity.
According to her, prayer, counselling, intercession and private engagement with leaders are also important forms of service, adding that not every response to a national crisis must be made publicly.
