Osifo Stanley to Challenge President Tinubu for APC Presidential Ticket
An Edo-born politician and member of the All Progressives Congress, Osifo Stanley, has declared his intention to contest the party’s presidential primary against President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Stanley made the declaration during a press briefing this Monday in Abuja, where he revealed that he has already requested the party’s account details to pay the mandatory fees for his expression of interest and nomination forms.
The aspirant argued that no amount of internal endorsements for the incumbent president can override the constitutional right of other party members to seek the nomination through a formal primary process.
He maintained that neither the APC constitution nor the Electoral Act 2026 recognises endorsements as a legal substitute for an open election to select a flagbearer.
Stanley, who highlighted the economy and national security as his top priorities, stated that his candidacy aims to provide a fresh ideological approach to tackling the lingering tensions within the country.
