Anambra Power Protest Suspended Over Security Concerns
A planned protest over erratic electricity supply in Anambra State has been suspended due to security concerns.
The protest was organised by the Electricity Consumers Rights Network to draw attention to residents’ frustration over poor power supply despite Band A tariffs.
Convener of the group, Osita Obi, announced the suspension while addressing journalists in Awka this Friday.
Obi said the decision followed warnings from security agencies including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services that the protest could be hijacked by hoodlums.
He added that the protest was only suspended and not cancelled, urging residents to attend a town hall meeting scheduled by FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited to discuss electricity challenges in the state.
