Jessica Chastain is joining Emilia Jones and Amy Ryan in Netflix’s upcoming drama series ‘THE RETRIEVALS’, based on the shocking true story at Yale Fertility Center.
The series dramatizes the case of nurse Donna Monticone, who stole fentanyl intended for patients and replaced it with saline. As a result, nearly 100 women undergoing egg retrieval procedures experienced severe pain because the medication meant to keep them comfortable was no longer effective.
Jones plays Gabby Clemente, one of the patients who helps bring the other victims together and leads a legal battle against Yale. Chastain plays Kaitlyn Langford, another patient who becomes a key plaintiff, while Ryan portrays Carla Russo, the nurse who pleaded guilty to diverting the fentanyl.
Based on Susan Burton’s Peabody Award winning ‘THE RETRIEVALS’ podcast for The New York Times and Serial Productions, the series will explore not only the drug diversion itself, but the women’s fight to have their experiences and pain taken seriously.
