Monday Sit-at-home: Anambra Begs Transporters to Resume Monday Operations
The Anambra State Government has appealed to commercial transport operators across the state to resume full operations on Mondays to help end the sit-at-home order affecting economic activities.
The Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, made the call this Tuesday, during a one-day training and retraining programme for commercial drivers and riders held in Awka. He said transporters play a crucial role in restoring full business activities on Mondays.
Mefor noted that while traders, civil servants, banks and schools have resumed Monday operations, inadequate transportation remains a major challenge for residents and business owners across the state.
Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Transport, Patricia Igwebuike, said the training was organised in partnership with Rotary International to promote road safety and improve efficiency in the state’s transport sector.
