APC Chairman Meets Bala Mohammed Amid Defection Talks
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has met with Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed amid growing reports of the governor’s planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The meeting was held this Wednesday, at the Government House in Bauchi, with Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf also in attendance, as discussions reportedly focused on persuading Mohammed to reconsider his reported move to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and possibly align with the APC.
Sources indicated that the closed-door meeting came shortly after the governor hosted a delegation of the ADC led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, where ongoing political consultations were discussed.
Mohammed had earlier attributed his planned defection to unresolved internal crises within the PDP, stating that reconciliation efforts had failed despite multiple attempts at both national and state levels.
He, however, noted that while the ADC currently appears to be the most acceptable platform, consultations are still ongoing, adding that his camp would consider joining the APC if formally approached.
