FCT Unveils Free Long-Acting HIV Prevention Injection

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has officially launched the rollout of over four thousand vials of LenPrEP, a new long-acting injectable HIV prevention medication.

The FCT Mandate Secretary for Health Services, Adedolapo Fasawe, announced at the Asokoro District Hospital this Tuesday that the medication will be provided free of charge to eligible residents.

Authorities confirmed that the injection is administered only twice a year, offering a convenient alternative for individuals who find it difficult to adhere to daily oral pills.

The FCT is among eight selected states for the pilot phase of this initiative, which aims to complement existing prevention methods and accelerate progress toward global epidemic control.

Fasawe urged residents to seek the service at designated public hospitals across the territory while warning against any illegal sale or stigmatisation associated with the medication.
