Emeka Ike declares bid for House of Representatives seat

Veteran Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has officially declared his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The declaration was made, with the actor announcing that he will contest for the Abuja Municipal/Bwari Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress.

Emeka Ike said his decision to enter politics was driven by a desire to contribute to national development and improve governance through what he described as a proper systematic structure.

A video circulating online showed the actor receiving his nomination form from party officials, while a member of his campaign team claimed he had already emerged winner of the party’s primaries ahead of the 2027 polls.

Recall that this is not his first attempt at elective office, as he previously contested for a House of Representatives seat in 2018 under the Young Progressive Party in Imo State.

Beyond politics, Emeka Ike remains one of Nollywood’s most recognisable actors, rising to fame after starring in the 1994 movie Deadly Affair before making a return to the screen in 2023 with a role in Malaika.
