Three Die in Akwa Ibom Road Crash
Three persons have reportedly lost their lives in a fatal motor accident involving a Mack truck and a commercial tricycle at Ette Junction in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
The incident occurred this Wednesday, when the truck attempted to overtake a parked vehicle belonging to Sterling Petrochemical and Fertilizer Limited and collided with the tricycle, killing three persons on the spot.
The management of Sterling Petrochemical and Fertilizer Limited confirmed the accident in a statement, expressing sadness over the development and extending condolences to the families of the victims while pledging support during the difficult time.
The company said security agencies including the Police and Joint Task Force have been deployed to manage the situation and ensure free flow of traffic while investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to safety, noting that it has strengthened measures such as safety campaigns, speed checks, and deployment of trained personnel across its operational routes to prevent future occurrences.
